You are eligible to join the American Legion if you have served at least one day of active military duty since December 7, 1941 and were honorably discharged or you are still serving active military duty honorably.

You are eligible to join the Sons of the American Legion if you are male and your parent or grandparent served in the U.S. military.

If your parent or grandparent is living, they must be a member of the American Legion in order for you to be eligible to join.

You are eligible to join the American Legion Auxiliary if you have a family member who served in the U.S. military.

If your family member is living, they must be a member of the American Legion in order for you to be eligible to join.
